Apartment Review for Westwood Village Apartments - Oceanside, CA

This is an older complex, from the 70's I believe. So one should understand that one is getting a basic unit. This is not a place for you if you're looking for a lot of amenities. However, any repairs needed are done promptly, and the manager is responsive to requests and complaints. I think that is the single most important thing - responsive management. Things were a bit quieter when I first moved in, but I think things are at a very reasonable level for close apartment living. I have had few complaints and I've had a number of different neighbors next to and below me in these past few years. My unit has gorgeous light (windows facing in 3 different directions) and a very nice view. We do live near a train track and a major road, so if that type of noise bothers you, be warned. It does not bother me one bit though - after awhile it honestly just becomes "white noise". The offsite manager, Joyce, is the best lady ever. She gave me my first apartment at another property (she used to run my old complex) and I moved to this place a while after she left there, because I knew she ran it, and I knew I could trust her to run a good place. The outside looks a little scary because it is on a major road and it is a sort of industrial area. It is also tucked on the corner of a residential street with two churches flanking it, so the place itself is quieter than you might expect. I wouldn't be really comfortable walking around outside the complex (certainly not at night) but I feel totally safe when I'm at home and in the parking lot. I have not witnessed any crime within the complex, just a few car break-ins of the ones parked out on the street.
