Apartment Review for Villages Of Monterey - Oceanside, CA

I lived at the Villages for 18 months. I gave notice to move June 1st 2009. I asked for more time to find another apartment on July 1st, I told them I would leave august 1st. Now they say i never gave them written notice and are charging me an extra months rent even though I had an undersdtanding (I thought) that this was taken care of as I sat face to face with the staff member and she said call me with your decision: to move out in 2 weeks or at the end of the month. I called later that day and said I needed one more month.She says she doesn't remember. A friendly management staff would have reminded me if they thought I didn't give them proper notice, they waited with the express idea of trying to get another $1440 from me. Here is why I know: In May Our childs best friend moved away without saying anything as it turns out her reason was thet an older playmate had done an unspeakable act to her and my child and lets spare the details to protect the innocent. She (The mother of our childs friend)informed the Villages staff of this as her reason for moving and they didn't even informally tell us and the older child continued to perform this act with our child we finally found out from Child Protective services at the end of June as the Mother filed a report against the older child. The Villages staff (Victoria Fox, Mona Cooper and Nicki Carbine) Knew our child was in danger for almost 3 weeks and did nothing to protect her. Legally I suppose they didn't have to but morally? why wouldn't they at least informally warn us of this threat? Yes I know it is a parents responsibility to protect their children I will forever bear this guilt at my failure to do so. But would you want to live at a place where the management wouldn't even tell you that your child was in danger? And then try to extort more money from you when they knew you were in a emotionally difficult situation? That is the character of this place Please I urge yopu to boycott the Villages Of Monterey until these people are held accountable.
