Apartment Review
If you value your money and possesions don't even

Okay I don't know that I can organize my thoughts enough on this place to write down every stupid thing, but I sure will try. This place isn't worth a penny let alone the rediculous price of rent that we pay here. We moved in because we are newlyweds and my husband is in the marine corps. We needed an apartment to move into and with the "great deal" they presented us with, we decided that this was worth the price. At first glance anyways. At first, it was alright here. The apartment was spacious and there wasn't much noise. We didn't have any problems with the apartment, so we didn't have many run ins with the management. But, soon we had people move in underneath us and they were partiers. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday all night long. It was horrible. Management did nothing. The first time we went down to use the pool it was totally drained because they were having "filter trouble". So, we didn't think much of it. Well, since then the pool hasn't closed again, but it's been absolutely discusting. Usually it turns green and you can't see the bottom before they ever consider cleaning it. There are two hot tubs, one is always cold, but has bubbles and the other is always hot but there aren't any bubbles. Because people let their kids come down and swim alone there are usually chairs in both. The cold one, like the pool, is often green and the hot one is usually filthy around the bottom from kids throwing dirt in it. Not to mention that people from the alotment across the street come over and hop the fence and use our pool, and presidio staff does nothing. There is a lot of parking here, but our one car has been broken into once already. There are always kids running rampant and skateboarders. Seems like no one watches their children here, they'll be dragging stuff out of the trash bins and putting it all over the sidewalk and stuff. We've also had kids shooting airsoft guns at our brand new car! It's like they have no control over their kids. Most of the time the parking spaces close to our apartment are filled up, so we have to park down a ways. The sidewalks aren't lit whatsoever on this side (because people have shot the lights out) so it's a really uncomfortable walk. Especially because as of late there has been a mugger mugging people around here. My husband actually carries a knife if he's out at night. The next thing is the condition of apartment. The first one as I said before was nice. It had it's issues, but nothing too horrible to complain about. Then we moved into the one we live in now. When we moved in the floors were caked with...something...they were pink...but when I mopped they were white! GROSS! There are permanent yellow stains on the floor. The carpet wasn't swept or cleaned and had horrendous stains which STILL haven't come out. There are these little bugs everywhere...obviously they have infested the home because no matter what we do they don't go away. The door didn't have a lock when we moved in which brings me to my next problem with this place. The matainence crew is awful. First it was the fact that we didn't have a window in our bedroom. The landlord told us we would just have to wait because she didn't have time for someone to do it. It wasn't till 2 weeks later that it finally was replaced. At the same time we were trying to get a lock on our door because they had "lost" the keys. I have come to find out this is her favorite thing to say. Eventually after going down and begging for a lock they replaced it. Then we didn't have a mailbox lock or key for 2 weeks. They "lost" the key for that too and needed to replace it. So the guy goes down, takes the lock off and leaves our door wide open. I went down and asked probably 10 times for them to fix it and the last time found out that they had been throwing away the work order for it. So, during the time that it was hanging open, not only did the mailman stuff our mail in regardless (they aren't supposed to put mail in if it doesn't have a lock) but our hoodlum neighbors went through our mail and took checks that we were supposed to recieve. Which again brings me to another point. The manager here is totally incompentant. I can say that with the upmost believe that it is indeed true. We paid our rent with money orders. My husband put them in an envelope and took them down and put them in their dropbox. We get a letter stuck on our door (which this place loves to do) saying that we need to pay our rent or they'll send us to evictions. My husband went down and we come to find out she threw our checks in the trash. YES THE TRASH!! Then she tells my husband HE needs to go look through the trash and track them down. Eventually we ended up cancelling them and having new ones sent, which you guessed it...ended up stolen because of their stupidity. When we were still living in the first apartment here, the bottom apartments were flooded with raw sewage. It backed up in their tubs and sinks. The stench was horrible and came up through the vents into our upstairs apartment. While talking to one of the people who lived on the bottom floor I found out more good news. Presidio decided that they weren't going to pay for the problem or fix it and told the people living there that they indeed had to pay for it. It wasn't until they took them to the city and they found out what was going on that Presidio decided to fix it. They had to fine them everyday that it wasn't done just so that they would do it. They water the lawn here non-stop. I can understand wanting it to look nice, but they run sprinklers even in the dirt where there is no grass. It floods the sidewalks and the underground electrical boxes. Nice right? Who do you think pays for that water? Not Presidio. Your electric bill here won't be under 200. You pay 20 for trash removal...lets see if there are 20 apartmens on both sides of each building, we have a-at least j buildings. That's 400 apartments all paying 20. Since when does trash cost 8000 to remove? Plus on top of that they charge you a ton in water and then extra electic bill with that. That usually adds up to another 100 or so. I'm sure that there are a ton of things I missed, but I'm kind of flustered right now because we are moving out of here tonight. We've had enough. But, make the right decision and settle for something better than incompetence and laziness. |
