Apartment Review for Presidio Del Oro - Oceanside, CA

We moved in because we were in a hurry to find a place to live, and it had a good price. The parking was WONDERFUL, and I've never found an apartment since that had such ample parking. HOWEVER, the management wasn't very friendly, the apartments were dumps, and we only lived there 5 months. Every single month our electric bill was over 150 dollars for a one bedroom, one bathroom apartment. I've never heard of that. We live in a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom now at a different complex, and our electric bill is less than 40 every month, even in the winter. It's because the appliances are so old that they aren't energy efficient...either that, or someone was tapping into our electric and screwed us over. The layout of the apartment was awful. The stackable washer/dryer is located IN THE BEDROOM, behind the door, so you can't do your laundry at night, or you wont be able to sleep! The only bathroom was THROUGH the bedroom, so when we had guests, there was no privacy. Our neighbors were LOUD, and we constantly complained. They shut our water off frequently without informing us, which was a hassle when I would try to get ready in the morning. The closest parking was really far down this dimly lit path that made me very uncomfortable at night. When our lease ran up, they were going to up our rent from 975 to 1145, so there was NO WAY I was going to stay there. It was not worth that kind of money, when we found much better apartments. We moved out, and gave them our forwarding address, and NEVER RECIEVED what was left of our security deposit. Our deposit was 350, and after a lot of complaining, we received 25 dollars of it 3 months later. We left the apartment in excellent shape, did a walk-through with them and everything, and we were only there for 5 months, so it's not like there WAS much that we could have done. They didn't give us an itemized list of what they spent our security deposit on, so we went to the office to talk to the rental manager. She asked us if we had paid our water bill while we were living there, because that's what they took the money out for. Except, our water was included in the rent on our lease. Then she changed her answer, and said she wasn't sure, but there was nothing she could do, even though it was she who authorized the money we got back and why. Then she told us that they never recieved a forwarding address from us, which is why it took them so long to send it to us....but, that doesn't explain then how they got our address after so long. But, we HAD a forwarding address that we gave them, because we hated the apartment so much we signed another lease with another complex and moved out a month before our other lease ran up...so, the apartment sat empty for a month. They're a bunch of liars. So, I had to contact the Better Business Bureau, and after I did that I MAGICALLY got another 250 of my security deposit back! The pool was always filled with unsupervised splashing children, and our neighbors got their car broken into there, because there's no gate into the community.

Don't move there unless you want to be conned!
