Apartment Review for Island Club Apartments - Oceanside, CA

ell first off my boyfriends bike was stolen from Island Club 3 months after he bought it and then another residents car was stolen a month later. They sent out a letter to all residents about the car theft but I'm sure there has been more they havent notified people of.

My apartment was flooded on in June '07 by a washing machine owned by Island Club/AIMCO, in the apartment above me. Island Club knew about the flood since 8 am that morning and never contacted me. I came home to it 9 hrs later. It took the management 5 days to access the damage to my apartment. I was inconvenienced with this for 2 weekends in a row and not able to be in my home on both weekends but Island Club stated my apartment was still habitable even though I couldnt be there till the works were done every day/8 hrs a day. Island Club and AIMCO corporate basically told me to live with it.

The vendors that were hired to do the work in my apartment spilled paint and burned the carpet as well. They also left shoe marks all over the carpet and I do not wear shoes in my home. The carpet is all spliced now and looks so worn. I am also concerned with mold in ceilings because they refused to remove the ceiling where the water came through. The Island Club property manager offered me what they called "complimentary" carpet cleaning as compensation. I don't feel a carpet cleaning is "complimentary" when the carpet did not need to be cleaned till this incident. This was the only compensation they offered me but the Island Club Service Manager screwed up and told me that carpet cleaning is a 'standard service' whenever they have to have their vendors working in the apartments.

From what I have experience with the Island Club management, AIMCO does not stand by their 'Apartment Guarantee' that they advertise on their website http://www.aimco.com/ApartmentSearch/. I would never rent an apartment managed by AIMCO again! I had to contact the office every day to remind them and to make sure they completed all the work they had told me they would do in the apartment.
