Apartment Review for Island Club Apartments - Oceanside, CA

I just moved to Island club from another Aimco property in MA (June 2007). By comparison, the office staff is less professional and follow up needs work. 1. They knew I was moving cross country and did not think to tell me a big moving van (over 26') could not come onto the property. The day the van came I had to rent a U-Haul, find a place to transfer my stuff and then have that smaller van bring the goods in. 2. It is promoted as an all electric apartment but the water heater is gas. The office forgot to turn on the pilot light even though I told them when I was coming and came in the day before to pay my first month rent. 3. The day after I moved in (5th of the month) I got a hand delivered "late rent" notice. They somehow forgot to enter my payment into the computer. 4. And connected with that, my first July rent bill arrived with a $160 past due amount- which turned out to be yet another accounting error- they forgot to apply my $100 deposit and so there was an automatic interest charge of $60. Yes they said they would correct both errors immediately but I will see next month.

I have to agree about the complaints regarding people not cleaning up after their dogs and littering. And especially letting little kids into the jacuzzi. I would never use it knowing that infants and toddlers have been in. Additionally, people have a tendency to speed, burn rubber, and show little consideration by cranking their car stereos way up at late night hours. This has less to do with "low rent" than immature and inconsiderate.

However, the property is kept fairly nice. I would say that the staff could use some training, especially with regard to follow-up on service issues.
