Apartment Review
worst experience ever

I live at Island club twice, the first time I was fooled (it was only for 4 months), the second time I lived there 2 years. Absolutely horrible. If you have more than one car, and most families do, if you get home after 4 pm forget about that parking spot next to your apartment. In one of my aprtments the reserved spot was on an entire different area than my apartment. The management and staff were the worst people I have ever dealt with. I ended making several complaints with AIMCO headquarters and they did nothing. So let me tell you some horror stories... when my washing machine (from the 70's) broke, they were prompt to come and fix it, they brought a replacement, but while bringing it in they dirtied mt floor, and put a hole in the wall in the living room. But as soon as it was 5:00 they left and told me they would fix the hole tomorrow, they said my washing machine was fixed. When i tried to do laundry, the water leaked and the dryer was not hooked up at all. When my huband went to look at it to see if could fix it, what did he find but an open KNIFE on the top of the dryer, mind you my daughter was a crawling around 7 month old, thank GOD she didn't find it. When i called the management to complain, the lady sounded very reassuring that nothing like this ever happens and would never happen again. When they came back to fix the washer/dryer. It took them 3 more trips to figure it out. When I found mold in my baby's room (after her being repeatedly sick), I called and complained once again it took them multiple trpis and days to "fix" the problem, they eventually painted over the mold (that was the day I became determined to move out). But did they use some kind of tarp. NO, they got paint all over my furniture and carpet, I guess tarps ar really expensive or something. We lived downstairs an could ALWAYS hear our upsatirs neighbors, when they were using the restroom, fighting, loving, and when they kids woke up and when they were running around. I am surprised that they didn't fall through the ceiling. Considering when the ceiling above our tub started leaking. Why would that happen, because everytime our upstairs neighbors were showering or using the toilet or brushing their teeth the water went through their pipes, out of their pipes and through their floor to our tub. It ended up making a big hole in our ceiling. Our nieghbors had no idea until the maintanence man came knocking on their door, oh thats right they weren't home and ended up letting himself in their apartment. They fixed the leak, but the day I left there was still a hole in the ceiling. Make sure you let the head manager know in WRITING that you will be leaving upon the end of your lease 30 days in advance. They do not remind you of this until it is too late and then you are expected to pay prorated rent, even though you are not living there and your lease is up. Overall recommendation, you can find cheaper places that are better to live in and if I were you I would spend a little more somewhere else to recieve way better service. I want to keep complaining, but I have had you here long enough.
